Joint research collaborations with leading international engineering, science and technology universities are an integral part of GIK’s mandate. Rector Jehangir Bashar of GIK and Director Shuit-Tong Lee of Soochow University’s Institute of Functional Nano and Soft Materials (FUNSOM) recently met in Suzhou, China. The Rector was visiting FUNSOM at the invitation of the Director. They signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for joint efforts in several areas including renewable energy technology, nanomaterials & nanofabrication, optoelectronic devices and integration and green environment. The agreement will enable faculty and students from both schools to do research on frontier scientific issues in the aforementioned areas.
Collaborative activities within the scope of the agreement are as follows:
a. Establishment of joint research facilities
b. Conduct of joint research and experiments
c. Participation in bilateral and international projects
d. Training and periodic exchange visits between parties (including scientists, engineers and other specialists)
e. Joint cultivation of postgraduates from both institutions
f. Other mutually agreed upon cooperative activities
