    Medical Education 4.0: An opportunity for researchers and educators

    To give opportunities for researchers, educators, doctors or medical staffs to start recording their scientific works or products in digital media, Faculty of Medicine of Atma Jaya Catholic University of Indonesia (AJCUI) held a workshop with theme of “Digital Scholarship and Digital Literacy and Academic Personal Branding”. The workshop which took place on September 12-13, 2019 at Pluit Campus was in a partnership with National University of Singapore (NUS) and invited Dr. Goh Poh Sun, an expert in medical education.

    According to the head of committee, dr. V. Dwi Jani Juliawati, the workshop would help participants to create scientific product portfolio in their digital media. The comprehensive analytical system provided by professional social media should be made use for the development of professional and academic record. “Medical Education Record 4.0 facilitates medical education researchers in digital record, and therefore academic personal branding can also be developed,” he said in the press release.

    The Vice Rector IV for Cooperation, Research and Strategical Plan of AJCUI, Elisabeth Rukmini, Ph.D. said that Medical Education 4.0 is a new learning method, especially in medical education.

    Medical Education 4.0 talks about how to use digital technology in developing learning methods. The use of digital technology (digital books, digital search engines, research, publication, online lecture, webinars) to support learning process, academic careers and research is also covered in Medical Education 4.0. Meanwhile, according to Goh, who also delivered materials in a lecture session in AJCUI Faculty of Medicine, digital media can be utilized to develop and elaborate learning results to others, so that the learning process, with the background research, can keep continuing.

    “That’s the guarantee for the continuity of Medical Education 4.0,” said the senior consultant in the Department of Diagnostic Radiology and the lecturer at NUS and National University Health System.

    Dr. Goh who is also active in professor association has published a great number of journals regarding the material delivery of effective learning in medical education which can be applied in bachelor degree of medical or clinical studies.

    Moreover,  his publications can also be found in international association journal in medical education. Currently, he is actively being a speaker in international conferences to elaborate regarding Medical Education 4.0.
