Mahasarakham University Uses Traditional Performances to Educate Community about the “New Normal”

The Research Institute of Northeastern Arts and Culture of Mahasarakham University has taken an initiative to educate the community about the “New Normal” during the COVID-19 situation through traditional cultural performances.

“Mor lam Klorn,” the Isan traditional performance, and “Nang Pra Mo Thai,” the Northeastern shadow-puppet theater, share the knowledge and understanding about the “New Normal”. These performances will be shown on social media including, Facebook, Webpage, Youtube, Twitter, Instagram, Line and more.

This initiative not only helps elders to enjoy these traditional performances but also helps create awareness on COVID-19 and may help in preparing the community for another such outbreak.

Mahasarakham University is trying not only to be involved in community learning and awareness but also to preserve the important cultural heritage of the Northeastern.  This initiative is in line with the University’s motto: “Public Devotion is a Virtue of the Learned.”
