    Mahasarakham University Presents the “Phellinus igniarius Extract” Research Project for Further Commercial Development

    Mahasarakham University presented its Phellinus igniarius Extract” research project to the senior management of the health product business companies, on January 29, 2020, at the Faculty of Pharmacy of the university. The research team is headed by Asst. Prof. Dr. Methin Phadungkit, lecturer of the Faculty of Pharmacy.  Asst. Prof. Dr. Pornpun Laovachirasuwan, lecturer of the Faculty of Pharmacy and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Khwanruan Naksuwankul, lecturer of the Faculty of Science are the co-researching member of the team.

    Presently, it is the fact that there are a few studies of Phellinus igniarius,” and the production of dietary supplement products from mushroom cannot be found in Thailand. For this important reason, the health product business companies aim to go further with this research project to produce “functional food” or “nutraceutical” since it is reported that “antioxidant,” antimetastatic,” “antimicrobial,” “primary metabolite and secondary metabolite” elements can be extracted from mushroom, besides, high-protein, low-fat, vitamins and minerals.

    By the use of advanced scientific equipment and research knowledge, Mahasarakham University hopes that this achievement will be an initiation to develop and distribute high-quality natural products, especially products from medicinal mushrooms to Thai people and other parts of the world in the near future.
