In the current digital economy era, stock trading transactions can be easily done through mobile phones. Thus, a stock market investment can be easily done by anyone and anywhere. For students, a stock investment can be the right choice to achieve financial goals in the future. This was revealed by the Head of Actuarial Science Study Program of President University Maria Yus Trinity Irsan, S.Sc., M.Sc. in the Actuarial in Action 2 seminar with the theme “Managing Your Gadgets for Fintech” (17/9).
“We all know that mobile phones are now cannot be separated from students’ life. Instead of being used to access unimportant sites, mobile phones are better used to access fintech (financial technology) applications to invest. It is easy and practical because students can check market condition through their mobile phones after they have finished their class or other university activities,” Maria explained.
Dra. Muara Lysta Sirait, M.BA. was present as a speaker in the seminar held at the Adam Kurniawan Library President University. Muara Lysta who has more than 20 years of experience in the field of risk management and data analysis at Astra Credit Companies (ACC) and PT. Toyota Astra Financial Services (TAFS) provides stock market investing tips for beginners. Muara Lysta explained about the definition of bonds and stock as well as how to observe and buy them. She hoped that this knowledge can encourage students to invest through their mobile phones.
“After gaining knowledge from today’s seminar, I hope students can immediately practice it because knowledge without practice is meaningless. It is okay to start small. Even though the amount of their investment is small, students can learn to analyze and understand the price fluctuations pattern. This pattern analysis will be very needed in the work world today,” said Muara Lysta.
Furthermore, Maria explained that Actuarial in Action seminar series is routinely held so that actuarial students not only get actuarial knowledge but also gain life skills that are useful for their future. Through this Actuarial in Action 2 seminar, Maria hoped students will get a comprehensive insight on stock investment and start investing now.
