Greater cooperation in higher education between Cyprus and Oman

An Erasmus type of student exchange can benefit both countries and provide students from Oman with the opportunities to obtain an European degree by attending Cyprus universities.

The House president, Demetris Syllouris and Oman’s Minister of Higher Education, Rawiyah bint Saud Al Busaidiyah have been in talks to enhance the cooperation in higher education and to ink a Memorandum of Understanding.

Syllouris shared that the aftermath of Brexit has resulted in a heightened interest by British universities to collaborate with Cypriot tertiary institutions. Therefore, an Erasmus type of student exchange can benefit both countries and provide students from Oman with the opportunities to obtain an European degree by attending Cyprus universities.

In addition, Cyprus can become a bridge of cooperation between European universities with universities in the Middle East; while on the other hand, Oman’s higher education minister has also expressed her interest in such partnerships, including the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding.
