GIK faculty win Emerald Literati Awards of Excellence 2019 for research papers

Dr. Muhammad Mohsin Butt, Department of Management Sciences at the GIK Institute, and his team of co-authors from world renowned universities received two Highly-Commended Paper Awards in the 2019 Emerald Literati Awards of Excellence.

The first winning paper entitled “Religious symbolism in Islamic financial service advertisements”, published in Journal of Islamic Marketing, looked at the impact of increasing the intensity of religious cues in financial services advertisements and their impact on Muslim and Non-Muslim consumers. Their study reported an inverted “U” relationship between intensity of religious cues and consumer response towards firm brand and purchase intentions.

The second winning paper entitled “Transnational higher education: the importance of institutional reputation, trust and student-university identification in international partnerships” was published in the International Journal of Educational Management. Drawing on theories of social and organisational identification, this is the first study to consider student-university identification as the linchpin between the exogenous constructs of reputation and trust, and the endogenous constructs of student satisfaction, loyalty and extra-role behaviors in both the international education and international business literatures.

For the past 26 years, Emerald Literati Awards have celebrated and rewarded the outstanding contributions of authors and reviewers of scholarly research. These awards help strengthen the impact of winning research and support scholarly endeavors of authors by giving them the recognition and international credit they deserve.
