FiTA Dance Theatre from the Faculty of Film, Theatre and Animation (FiTA), Universiti Teknologi MARA Malaysia has entered the Short+Sweet Malaysia 2019: Dance Competition organised by Kuala Lumpur Performing Arts Centre. Performers compete for a place in the Gala Finals where the winners will win prizes including the coveted Mercedes-Benz Award for Creative Excellence.
In the competition, FiTA has won :
- Best male dancer (Maizal Mazli b Mansor)
- Best supporting male dancer (Mohamad Taufiq b Hidir Adnin)
- Mercedes-Benz Malaysia Creative Excellence Award (Main Award)
All performances were choreographed by Muhammad Fairul Zahid, a lecturer from the Department of Theatre, FiTA.
Short+Sweet Malaysia is a performing arts platform to showcase aspiring talents in a highly creative, collaborative, competitive and professional environment. This innovative and fresh performing arts festival features categories in Theatre, Dance, Junior Dance, Musical, Stand-Up Comedy, Song & Film.
The Faculty of Film, Theatre and Animation or its acronym FiTA was established in 1998. The idea of the establishment of FiTA was planned in 1997, which was in line with the current trend of creative industry development in Malaysia. FiTA now offers 15 academic programmes under a work-based learning platform. This work-based learning is known as 2u1i (two years in university, one year in industry), a programme which aims to boost students’ learning experience based on industry knowledge combined with classroom learning.
