    FBM, UiTM walks away again with the Best Islamic Banking Award

    Faculty of Business and Management (FBM) Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM), Malaysia once again emerged top for the Best Islamic Finance Qualification for its Bachelor of Business Administration, BBA (Hons) Islamic Banking programme – two consecutive years in a row. The award by the Global Islamic Finance Awards (GIFA) was first awarded to FBM in 2018 in Sarajevo, Bosnia Herzegovina. While, the 2019 GIFA ceremony was held in Cape Town, South Africa recently and FBM emerged as a winner again.

    FBM is proud to highlight that it also bagged the Golden Globe Tigers Award 2018 in April 2018 for being the Best Educational Institution in Banking and Insurance.

    GIFA award is a global recognition which marks the efforts made by FBM in providing talented human capital for the Islamic finance industry, both locally and globally. Since 1999, FBM has been the pioneer educational institution in Islamic finance from its home-grown degree program, BBA (Hons) Islamic Banking. The 3-year degree programme is designed to produce trained professionals in the Islamic banking and finance sector which not only offers fundamental courses such as ‘understanding business’ but also higher level codes which exposes students to be able to comprehend the Islamic jurisprudence which teaches the rules and regulations from Al–Quran and Al–Sunnah with regards to the Islamic banking and finance theories and practices.

    The success history of this academic programme is based on five important pillars which are: contemporary curriculum; qualified academic staff; strategic partnership with industry; students’ achievements and last but not least the alumni who are the testament of this academic programmes.

    Graduates from this programme have a wide choice of job opportunities. They could either work as middle managers or executives in the banking and finance institutions as well as other institutions dealing with insurance and property. FBM stands tall with a strong alumni of approximately 5,500 who work in the banking and finance sectors while others are in the ministry, government agencies and private companies. FBM’s graduate employability stands at a high of 80% which shows the ability of FBM graduates to find or create work after acquiring their degree.

    As 2019 marks 20 years of the BBA (Hons) Islamic Banking programme in existence, the award is timely in recognizing the contribution of the programme. FBM celebrates its 20th year anniversary of BBA (Hons) Islamic Banking this year where various activities such as exhibitions, entrepreneurship day, alumni activities and international student competitions have been held. This celebration is scheduled to close next year with a networking dinner among students, alumni and influential people in the Islamic finance industry.
