Engineering students of President University goes to Teikyo University Japan

May 27 – June 2, 2019, was a precious experience for four President University students. Through “Sakura Science Program”, Adelya Anjany (Mechanical Engineering 2016), Edmun Iro Kavalo Halawa (Mechanical Engineering 2017), Muhammad Yeza Baihaqi (Electrical Engineering 2016) and Andre Muslim (Electrical Engineering 2016) got an opportunity to study at Teikyo University, Utsunomiya. “Sakura Science Program” invites outstanding students and professionals from Asian countries to Japan to experience the advanced technology of Japan. They are expected to contribute to the development of science and technology in Asia in the future.

President University students’ journey in Japan began with a briefing about the programs that they did at Teiko University Utsunomiya. On the next day, the students participated in a class and learn about Automobile System and Fuel Consumption from Mechanical Engineering Laboratory advisor, Prof. Akira Kato.

“Through this exchange program, students were given cases in the Mechanical Engineering field. These study cases then were solved using the adequate facilities in Teikyo University which is the diesel machine that commonly used in aerospace and robotics field,” said Dr. Eng. Lydia Anggraini, S.T., M.Eng., Head of Mechanical Engineering Study Program who accompanied the students in Japan.

After the class, they got a chance to visit laboratories at Teikyo University. Students did a real test drive to examine the fuel consumption using the Nissan Serena which was driven for approximately 1 hour around Utsunomiya City.

On the next day, they visited the Miraikan Science Museum in Odaiba, Tokyo. The trip was continued to one of the biggest race track, Twin Ring Moto GP Motegi, Tochigi. Adelya Anjany who had the opportunity to drive at this circuit won the first place in a gokart competition held at that time.

Last, they also visited Honda Gallery and interacted directly with ASIMO, an iconic humanoid robot made by Honda.

“Sakura Science Program is a great opportunity for President University students to learn about Japanese Technology. In addition, this experience is hoped to motivate the students to improve their skills and pursue their higher education, especially in Japan,” said Dr. Eng. Lydia Anggraini.
