    #Clichae2019 Initiative: Change The Mindset Not The Climate – A forum and sharing session to inculcate green habits and nurture environmentally conscious Malaysians for the future

    PETALING JAYA, SELANGOR – Aimed at highlighting the need for urgent action to tackle climate change and its impacts, 22 students from the Institute of Continuing Education & Professional Studies (iCEPS) of Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) Shah Alam, Selangor had hosted a forum and sharing session with title of Change The Mindset Not The Climate 2019 (Clichae2019).

    The forum was hosted in PPR Lembah Subang 2 on the 7th of December 2019.

    The students involved are currently enrolled in the Bachelor of Mass Communications (Hons) Public Relations programme under the Faculty of Communication and Media Studies as part of a Public Relations Counselling Project and guided by Pn. Shira Haniza binti Yaakop, the programme’s advisor who is also a senior academician from the same faculty.

    In the forum, the panelists were director of Treat Every Environment Special (TrEES), Pn. Leela Panikkar, representative from the Community Education of Solid Waste Management and Public Cleaning (SWCorp), En. Mohd Farhan bin Abd. Munir and
    environmental activist who is also the president of the International Islamic University (UIA) Eco Club, En. Ahmad Norfitri Bin Baderulnizam. The panelists shared their insights on the environment and climate change.

    The Clichae2019 project manager, En. Zamri bin Adam said Change the Mindset Not the Climate was focused on educating residents to reduce, reuse and recycle.

    “This initiative was undertaken to benefit residents while fostering closer ties with them through engaging activities such as recyclable materials collection, creative cake decoration, firefighting demonstrations and many more. Lucky draw session was also included in the itinerary as a crowd puller.” he said.

    On November 30, Clichae2019 also held a weigh-in competition of recycling items for PPR Lembah Subang 2 residents aged 13 to 17. The participation received was rather encouraging. It was one of the efforts to encourage young people to engage in environmental preservation.

    Clichae2019 also took the opportunity to give back to the community through an initiative
    called Peduli Dewan, the group had managed to donate four units of industrial fans to be
    installed in the community hall within the PPR Lembah Subang 2 complex.
