The [email protected] is an avenue in moving from academia operating in isolation to the quadruple helix of academia, industry, government and local communities. This platform provides an insight in opening a path of partnership for incubation, development and commercialization of ideas between the faculty and industry. Dato’ Seri Mohamed Azahari, the CEO of QSR Brands (M) Holdings was invited to touch base with Faculty of Business and Management (FBM) Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) staff and students on 17th September 2019.
QSR Brands (M) Holdings is a company that is involved in managing and operating retail food industry under the famous KFC and Pizza Hut outlets in the ASEAN region with more than 1,305 restaurants, supported with 35,000 committed employees. This company which guarantees full compliance for Halal in every aspect of the food manufacturing process in all sections of the group’s market has certification from JAKIM
Dato’ Seri Mohamed Azahari, the sixth CEO to touch base with FBM, said that it is his homecoming as he is an alumni of FBM. He started his interesting session by sharing about his family background and challenges encountered in the industry. He then spoke on the ‘farm to fork’ process of supply chain management which is deployed by QSR Brands where it manages its raw material right from the start till the delivery of the products and services to the customer. He added that this whole process needs high quality assurance and compliance towards customers’ preference and sensitivity.
Dato’ Mohamed Azahari captured the attention of the audience by throwing random quizzes and continuously rewarded the participants with vouchers from QSR Brands.
One key point for take away that Dato stressed was “we should work hard despite the harsh conditions and environment surrounding us, be it either family background, society or workplace, without losing our aim. We should always keep striving forward and believe that each of us have a role to play in this world”.
The talk which was held at the Faculty of Business and Management, Universiti Teknologi MARA was attended by 15 academic staff and 180 students. This talk was very engaging and kept the students focused on how to better equip themselves in building up their competitive advantage. The students were “inspired”, “motivated to improve themselves” and were “very happy to attend this session” and some were “looking forward to attend more of these [email protected] sessions”.
