2 Vietnamese Universities among the top
The Vietnam National University (VHU) – Hanoi and VHU – Ho Chi Minh City, are two institutions in Vietnam that have secured places in the top 150, ranking at 139th and 142th respectively.
Hanoi University of Science and Technology moved from 301-350th to the 291-300th bracket, illustrating significant improvement. In contrast, Can Tho University fell in ranking as it moved downwards from the 251-300th to 301-350th bracket. Hue University also failed to perform as it dropped from the 301-205th to 351-400th bracket.
Prof Nguyen Huu Duc, Deputy Rector of VNU-Hanoi, credited Vietnam’s top universities growth in rankings to the improvements made in the following categories: (1) students per lecture (2) citations. For example, the average number of students per lecture at VNU-Hanoi stands at 14.2, which seemingly exceeds the average 12.5 for the ranked universities. In addition, the citation ratio of VNU-Hanoi stands at 5.8 compared to the 5.2 average for Asian universities.
