A lecturer from Faculty of Business President University Adhi Setyo Santoso, S.T., MBA., was selected as the nation’s most outstanding social-humanities lecturer 2019 in an award named “Anugerah Pendidik dan Tenaga Kependidikan (Diktendik) Berprestasi 2019”. Coincide with Youth Pledge Day, this award was given on 28 October 2019 in Jakarta.

This award was held by the Directorate General of Resources for Science and Technology and Higher Education (SDID), with the aim of giving awards to educators who excel in the field of tridarma of Higher Education. Successfully defeating dozens of lecturers from various higher education institutions in Indonesia, Adhi proved that President University’s lecturer is able to compete among lecturers from popular higher education institutions in Indonesia.

Previously, the selection of outstanding lecturers had been carried out at the provincial level. From the results of this selection, 10 lecturers competed before the judges on 27 October 2019 and three best lecturers of each category from higher education institutions throughout Indonesia were selected. Adhi explained that there were several points being judged, namely lecturers’ achievements, international publications, supporting documents, presentations of scientific papers or lecturers’ research results, and lecturer personalities.

In this selection process, Adhi presented his research entitled “Digital Platform Strategy and Its Effect on Consumption Shifting: Implication for Business Practice and Entrepreneurship Education”. He explained the shifting patterns of consumers and companies that focused on the digital ecosystem. According to him, these changes must be addressed properly by the lecturers and adjusted to the learning process.

Furthermore, Adhi revealed that the curriculum he used at President University allows students to change from digital native users to digital native creators. “A digital native creator can create a solution to certain problems that can not be solved previously without digital things,” he said. This was proved by President University students who have successfully run their own businesses even while still in university.

In addition, Adhi also expressed his criticism of entrepreneurship education in Indonesia which an entrepreneur has always been associated with corporate finance. He said, “It is not about how good they are in managing money, it is all about how good they are in orchestrating the platform they are developing.”

Adhi revealed that he was proud of this achievement. He hopes that this achievement will inspire other President University lecturers to continue their academic contributions at the national and international levels.
