This is a true alliance of science, education and production. The university contains a zone of green technologies called the “MiniEXPO”. The university is one of the top 200 green universities. Lectures are delivered by Nobel laureates Al-Farabi KazNU is a member of «COMSATS” Center of Excellence.
All educational programs are internationally accredited. There are 70 double degree programs with leading foreign universities Modern scientific and innovation infrastructure. The center of supercomputers and cloud computing will become the basis of the “University Alliance of the Silk Road” innovative IT-techno park , which will be built on the «Silicon Valley» model. Since 2014, KazNU has been the Global hub of the UN Academic Impact Program on sustainable development.
One of the main priorities of the university is spiritual education of the youth to be citizens of the country and the world, and strengthening common civilizational values Al-Farabi KazNU is a consistent leader in student sports in the Republic of Kazakhstan. 11 students from KazNU took part in Olympic Games in London and 17 students of the University participated in Rio de Janeiro. Dmitry Balandin, a student of Al- Farabi KazNU, received the Gold medal in swimming in Rio.
Other students have earned silver and bronze Olympic medals. In 2017, Kazakhstan became the first country in the CIS to host the World Winter Universiade. A grand ceremony of lighting the Fire of this international sporting event took place at KazNU. In May 2018, the international conference on global citizenship was held at the headquarters of the United Nations in New York. The United Nations Alliance of Civilizations, Permanent Mission of the Republic of Kazakhstan to the United Nations and Al-Farabi KazNU organized this event. A great interest was devoted to the new model of University development – University 4.0, proposed by KazNU. The concepts of this were based on the ideas of the great philosopher, al-Farabi, regarding virtuous societies.
The mission of the new generation University is aimed at fostering young people to be virtuous citizens of the world, with high spiritual and moral qualities and active citizenship. University 4.0 is a new trend which is especially relevant in the context of globalization and the rapid development of new technologies. Al Farabi Kazakh National University (KazNU) offers 82 bachelor degree programs at 17 faculties, which are among the leaders in the national subject ranking in Kazakhstan. Students can join undergraduate programs in a wide range of disciplines, from the sciences (chemistry, geography, mathematics and physics) through to humanities, law, IR, languages, and journalism. Students can also select from several joint double degree programs with the leading universities from around the world. The university bachelor degree programs train students to be critical thinkers, well-rounded lifelong learners and future leaders in their specialties. Most of the undergraduate programs of KazNU are accredited by accrediting agencies such as ASIIN, FIBAA, AQ, and ACQUIN.
