Abu Dhabi University dedicates AED 12 Million to scholarships and financial aid during the 2nd semester

In response to the UAE’s wise leadership dubbing 2017 as the ‘Year of Giving’, Abu Dhabi University has announced the dedication of AED 12 Million to scholarships and financial aid during the second semester of the current academic year 2016. The amount will benefit around 2,015 academically gifted and financially challenged students enrolled to study at the University’s Abu Dhabi and Al Ain campuses.

Chairman of Abu Dhabi University’s Executive Board, H.E Ali Saeed Bin Harmal Al Dhaheri explained that the allocation of the AED 12 Million is part of a comprehensive plan for a series of unique initiatives that the University will be implementing in celebration of the ‘Year of Giving’. “The decision translates the directives of H.H Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, and reflects the values of the Emirati community towards philanthropy, and recruiting resources to secure the happiness of those in need, as well as nurturing environments that ensure sustainable living conditions through initiatives and projects that promote the dissemination of a culture of social responsibility. Since its inception in 2003, the University’s Scholarships and Financial Aid Fund has succeeded in easing the academic financial burdens of more than 7,729 students through the allocation of AED 117,544,179.  This year, more than 1,653 students benefitted from the AED 9,842,347 that was pledged for scholarships and financial aid during the first semester of the current academic year 2016 -2017”, added Bin Harmal.

Bin Harmel went on to stress Abu Dhabi University’s keenness in offering scholarship and financial aid programs to its students to encourage their innovative scientific and academic achievements. “The programs also play a vital role in attracting exceptional high school students from around the country who exhibit unique academic talents and gives ADU the opportunity to shape them into becoming tomorrow’s leaders, in a learning environment that implements world-class standards.  ADU’s scholarship program is divided into 5 categories that offer a wide range of options to students through: the ‘H.H Sheikh Hamdan Bin Zayed Al Nahyan scholarship’, the Chairman’s scholarship, the University scholarship, the Academic scholarship, the Athletic scholarship and the financial aid program”, said Bin Harmal.
